Incorporating Citizenship,
Employability and Personal, Social and Health
Education.
Continuing to develop the already
well-established PSHE Programme, Life and Works brings this
aspect of the curriculum together with the issues of local
and global citizenship and employability.
The overriding ethos of the subject is
to help the pupils to develop as contributors to society,
the economy and the environment, as they both question and
participate actively in society.
-
Year Eight pupils now study the
new subject of Local and Global Citizenship, in
which they examine their place and identity both in a
local context and in terms of the world as a whole. The
subject operates hand-in-hand with Personal, Social
and Health Education, the shared purpose being to
develop the pupils in terms of being able to deal with
issues encountered in and outside of school as well as
getting them to consider their rights and
responsibilities, locally and globally.
- Years Nine and Ten are continuing
with PSHE.
- This year’s Year Eleven is the
first to begin studying the new Learning for Life and
Work GCSE. This two year course consists of three
modules:
Local and Global Citizenship
personal, Social and Health
Education
Leaning for
Work
The purpose of this subject at GCSE is
to develop the pupils’ abilities and skills in relation to
their responsibilities as they get older and preparing them
for the constantly changing workplace, both locally and
internationally
Through the study of real life
situations and scenarios the pupils will be provided with
the opportunities to explore and express their own values
and attitudes concerning human rights, social and economic
responsibilities and develop and appreciation of the needs
and perspectives of others. |
