Ashfield Boys' High School boasts a library well stocked with books to suit all reading t and age ranges. Whether you are looking for a recipe book to help with your home Economics homework or just want to for yourself immersed in the latest Darren Shan novel we will be able to cater for you.
The library operates on the Dewey Decimal System for non fiction and the fiction books are divided into Junior and senior sections. We also have many Reference books and a number of popular monthly and weekly magazines. All junior classes visit the library each week with their English teacher and are encouraged to borrow a book on a weekly loan system. Senior pupils are also encourages to visit on a regular basis as the library is integral to Ashfield's aim of improving literacy throughout the school.
A group of pupil librarians assist our full time librarian. These boys do a very useful job shelving the books that have been returned and generally ensuring that all the books have been place in the correct order.
Not only is the library a relaxing place to read (try out our easy chairs and sofas!). it becomes the lively venue each Wednesday afternoon for the Library/ Game club where pupil come to play games (chess, draughts, Scrabble to name but a few) and enjoy the friendship of peers. On Thursday afternoon it is the venue for the Senior Scripture Union.
Our motto is - Read to Succeed
Maintained by Mrs R. Pearson, who can offer assistance at any
time.
