- The notes of a chord, spread, and played upwards or downwards.

Metronome
- Device for ticking a steady number of beats per minute, and therefore
fixing the tempo of a piece of music.

- Special, lined paper used for writing compositions.

Variation
- Piece of music which is a varied version of an original theme or a
well-known tune.

- A set of movements usually linked by a theme for an orchestra.

Mute
- A device fitted to an instrument which muffles or changes the tone by

- Unaccompanied vocal music.

- Latin word for work. Opus numbers on musical works show the order of
composition or publication.

- Sign which means that the note or rest must be held longer.

- A flat, a sharp, or a natural sign found in a piece of music, but not
