3.                Rotation - A rotation is a movement round in a circle.

4.                Centre of rotation - When an object rotates it turns about a centre of rotation.

Year 9 LAC Maths January

1.                Enlargement - An enlargement changes the size of an object.  The change is the same in all directions.

2.                Scale factor - The scale factor tells us how many times bigger the enlargement is.

3.                Rotational symmetry - A shape has rotational symmetry if it fits on top of itself more than once as it makes a complete turn.

4.                Order of rotational symmetry - The number of times a shape fits on top of itself.  It must be 2 or more.

Year 9 LAC Maths February

1.                Negative numbers - Numbers with minus signs in front are called negative numbers.

2.                Positive numbers - Other numbers except zero are positive.  Positive numbers are sometimes written with a plus sign in front.

3.                Directed numbers - Directed numbers are numbers with signs in front of them.

4.                Less than < or greater than > - We often use the signs < and > with  numbers.  < means less than, and  > means greater than.

Year 9 LAC Maths March

1.                Event - An event is something that can happen in a probability question.

2.                Probability - The probability of an event is the number of ways that the event can happen divided by the total number of things that can happen.

3.                Cancelling fractions - When we write probabilities as fractions, we should cancel the fractions to their simplest form.

Year 9 LAC Maths April

4.                Scale - The scale of a drawing gives the relative size of the actual length to the drawn length.

Year 9 LAC Maths May

1.                Area of a rectangle - Area of a rectangle = length x width.

2.                Area of a triangle - Area of a triangle = base x height ÷ 2.

3.                Area of a parallelogram - Area of a parallelogram = base x height.
