Geography at Ashfield Boys High School is an exciting and
challenging subject. It is the aim of this department to
offer an interesting, enjoyable and exciting experience of
Geography as well as helping students achieve their full
potential through excellent teaching strategies.

Key Stage 3
Year 8
Pupils study the following topics, Introduction to
Geography, Map Skills, Northern Ireland, Weather, Sport &
Economic Activity & Settlement.
Year 9
Pupils study; Map Skills, Ireland & Britain, Weather,
Climate and Microclimates, Weathering and Rocks, Ecosystems
& Global Warming.
Year 10
Pupils study; Map Skills, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Rivers,
European Union, Population and Development.
Key Stage 4

GCSE : CCEA Specification, choice of two tiers : Higher Tier (grade A*-D)

Foundation Tier (grade C-G)

Two papers (physical and human 40% each) both 1 hour 30
minutes

Coursework : 20% of the total mark.
