Ashfield Boys' High School GCSE Art
Art and Design at Ashfield challenges students to develop their creative skills in many different ways. They are encouraged to develop their appreciation of art through regular visits to museums and art galleries and through everyday activities. Self expressionism and experimentation of many different types of media is encouraged at all levels. The pupils are directed towards using their own initiative to create work that is original and personal to them.
Art and Design is an integral part of our school environment. We reward and encourage our pupils with exhibitions of their own work and displaying work around school. The pupils are provided with a detailed understanding of many different techniques, processes and methods also historical and contextual references. These all help the pupils to develop their imagination and help them explore the world around them in different ways.
To encourage development at KS3 we run an after school Art Club and photography including film.
